Cyclist hit outside Canterbury College in New Dover Road, Canterbury

A cyclist has been hit by a vehicle outside a college.

The incident took place just before 8am outside Canterbury College in New Dover Road.

Eyewitnesses report seeing the male cyclist struck by a vehicle during the morning rush-hour, a stone’s throw away from the campus.

Traffic is coping well, with residents stepping in to to help cars pass the scene safely.

It is not known how serious the cyclist's injuries are at this point.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson told KentOnline: “SECAmb was called at approximately 8.10am this morning to reports of an RTC involving a car and a bicycle.

“One ambulance crew attended and the cyclist was assessed and treated before being taken to QEQM Hospital in Margate.”

Police have been contacted for comment.
