A popular high street restaurant has vowed to find a new home after suddenly shutting its doors citing “reasons beyond our control”.
Po’ Boys in Canterbury High Street confirmed it has closed with immediate effect today, as a forfeiture notice appeared on the window.
Parkinson Bailiff Services’ letter reads: “You are under obligation to collect the goods.
“Please do so by no later than November 8".
Deliveroo drivers arriving today could be seen greeted by locked doors, while bosses announced on social media: “We are closing our doors today for reasons beyond our control.
“But we are not going anywhere.
“We have secured a different location.”
Responding, Becka McDonnell said: “Sorry to hear this but I’m glad you've managed to secure another location.”
In its short time in Canterbury, only opening in June two years ago, Po’Boys became a firm favourite with its sandwiches offering a slice of New Orleans.
In September 2022, KentOnline gave it a try – with our reviewer finding much to write home about following the visit.
Our reporter wrote: “What I liked about eating at Po’Boys, which also sells coffee drinks and fresh pastries, was that even though the service was fast, and people were constantly coming in and out picking up food to go, the place still felt relaxed and welcoming.
“I cleaned that tray like nobody’s business.”
Po’ Boys has been contacted for comment.
