Attempted murder charge for North London man after suspected road rage assault on A2 near Canterbury

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a suspected road rage attack on the A2 last month.

Emergency services were called to the London-bound carriageway between A2050 at Bridge and A28 at Wincheap on December 14.

Two men were reportedly assaulted during the incident between 5am and 5.40am – one of who continues to receive treatment for serious injuries after being taken to a London hospital.

At the time, officers revealed a silver Mercedes-Benz C Class and white SEAT were involved in the incident and the victims were assaulted on the side of the carriageway.

It left the dual carriageway shut all day and sparked a six-week-long investigation with two arrests made in London on Tuesday.

Dawood Khan has since been charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon, relating to a wooden bat and an axe.

The 28-year-old, of Burnt Oak, north London, is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today.

A 27-year-old man who was also arrested has been released on bail.
