Delays are easing on one of the county’s busiest routes following a “police incident”.

The QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing had been closed from M25 J31 for Lakeside and Purfleet earlier this evening to enable emergency services to work.

Delays are said to be building for drivers coming into Kent following reports of a “police incident” which has closed the route

National Highways were confirmed to be on the scene with officers assisting with traffic management, though the incident was cleared swiftly.

Efforts to deal with the matter were led by Essex Police.

Traffic monitoring experts Inrix said at the time: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to police incident on M25 QE2 Bridge clockwise from J31 A1306 (Lakeside / Purfleet) to J1A A206 (Dartford) Dartford.”

Police have been contacted for comment.
