Drivers facing delays on M25 within J3 of the Swanley interchange after vehicle fire

Drivers faced long delays on the M25 this morning following a vehicle fire.

Traffic was held clockwise within J3 of the Swanley interchange heading towards Darenth Bypass near Dartford.

All lanes re-opened in both directions just after 9am, but residual delays remained.

Traffic has since returned to normal.

Officers were called to the scene just after 7.30am. Fire crews led the emergency service operation.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a car alight on the M25 clockwise near Junction 3 for Swanley.

“Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.”

No injuries were reported.
