Trains, including high-speed services, were affected this morning after a trespasser on the line of a railway station prompted the power to be turned off for more than an hour.
Passengers travelling through and from Faversham railway station were held up after the incident which took place at around 4.45am this morning.
Police attended the scene which they described as a ‘medical incident’.
The power to the lines on the track was switched off for more than an hour as police, paramedics and Southeastern workers sought to remedy the situation.
It is now understood trains are running as normal.
A Southeastern spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any delays or inconvenience experienced by our customers early this morning because of a trespasser on the line near Faversham.
“Power was switched off for 65 minutes for safety reasons while emergency services removed an individual from the tracks.
“Trains are running again now and if anyone was delayed by 15 minutes or more, they can claim delay repay from our website.”
A Kent Police spokesman added: “Kent Police officers attended a medical incident at Faversham railway station at around 4.45am on Saturday. Patrols from the British Transport Police and paramedics also attended.”
