Actively Alive yoga studio to open in former M B Food Hall shop in West Street, Faversham

A yoga studio is set to move into a prominent town centre site that was home to a much-loved business for nine years.

Actively Alive announced its decision to relocate to West Street in Faversham from its current home in Standard Quay last month.

The studio will take the place of MB Food Hall, which closed last month, and is set to be ready to open by the end of November.

Owner Nicola Rowe, who has drawn inspiration from her time in India studying yoga, spoke of her excitement to move to the town centre.

“We’re so excited to add something to the area that can help boost the wellbeing of local residents,” the businesswoman told KentOnline.

“Actively Alive isn’t just ‘another yoga class’ - people here are building life-long friendships and truly feel a part of something in their area.

“We’re building a community and space people can visit in all of the highs and lows of life to come enjoy and find peace.”

Nicola has been running yoga classes since 2018 and made the step up to become a small business owner in 2021, when the studio opened at Standard Quay.

But as demand grew, she decided a bigger space was needed.

The company hopes the move will allow it to more than double class sizes, teaching as many as 30 people at a time.

“Our space is Bali-inspired,” Nicola added.

“It has touches of bamboo and greenery to help create a truly beautiful space that fills you with energy.”

MB Food Hall shut down a few weeks ago - about nine years after it first opened.

News of its closure prompted residents to brand West Street “the quietest route in the town”.

Faversham Traders’ Association chairman Tim Brown is pleased to see the fitness guru move in.

"Something that gives people the opportunity to do some fitness and relaxing is a really good thing,” he said.

“The fact somebody is opening a business in a shop that hasn’t been closed long is good news.

“It’s not every day a yoga studio moves into the centre of town, and I think Faversham is the kind of place that needs niche businesses.”

Actively Alive will open its doors on Saturday, November 26.

New clients will be offered unlimited classes in their first 30 days for £30.
