A crash involving two cars resulted in long delays on the A2 and M2 this morning.

Three lanes were closed on the A2 heading towards London, between the M2 and the A227 in Gravesend.

Two cars crashed at around 7.40am but no one was injured.

There was a 30-minute delay on approach to the crash with four miles of congestion on the M2, as well as queues on surrounding routes including the A289.

National Highways traffic officers were called and recovery of the vehicles was arranged.

All lanes had reopened by 9.45am.
