A property has been closed down after neighbours complained it had become a hotspot for crime and anti-social behaviour.
Police shut off the Gravesham council-owned address in Princes Road, Gravesend, after reports that the behaviour of those living and visiting the was disorderly and offensive.
The closure order was put in place yesterday after Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court granted the police request.
It lasts for three months and any unauthorised person entering the property during this time risks a fine and a prison sentence.
Officers ensured the building was empty and it has now been locked up with a sign placed on the door with a warning that it is an offence to enter.
The closure order used legislation under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
Police sergeant Steve Cole says the force is “determined” to support communities suffering from persistent antisocial behaviour and disorder.
He said: “Where concerns are raised, beat constables and council enforcement officers will warn the occupants of the consequences if their appalling and unacceptable conduct continues.
“Where they fail to take note of this warning we can instigate prohibitive measures to address this.
“We have reports of several other flats and houses in the area where the occupants are affecting the quality of life for residents.
“We will be gathering the necessary evidence and will not hesitate to take similar robust actions at these other locations.”
