Gravesend & Northfleet v Canvey Island

GRAVESEND manager Liam Daish has called on his players to stand up and be counted when local Nationwide Conference rivals Canvey Island visit Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

The Fleet are still reeling from the crushing disappointment of letting slip a 2-1 lead in the final minute of Tuesday’s FA Trophy quarter-final replay defeat by Bishops Stortford, who went on to win 3-2 in extra-time.

Immediately after the tie, Daish confessed that he would take a long time to recover from the shock.

With trophy-tied Jean-Michel Sigere, Nathan Bunce and goalkeeper James Pullen available, plus the suspended Justin Skinner, the Fleet boss is sure to ring the changes.

He said: "My team is not bad when we’ve got our big players available and we had some missing on Tuesday. I’m looking to the players coming back on Saturday to give the rest of the players a lift - and give me a lift.

"The quicker we get a win on the back of that defeat by Stortford, the better because what happened on Tuesday could live with us for a long time.

"The match against Canvey Island is a good one to be going into because of the local rivalry. So we need 11 players who will be up for it on Saturday."
