An amber cold weather alert covering Kent has been extended until Tuesday.
It comes as the county continues to face freezing conditions, with the government now warning the cold snap will last until at least January 14.
The UK Health Security Agency said: “Forecast weather is likely to cause significant impacts across health and social care services, including; a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions.
“We may also see impacts on younger age groups.”
Friday to Monday will bring continued low temperatures with snow and ice warnings likely to be issued.
The Met Office said: “Sunday temperatures around or just above freezing by day, with perhaps some persistent low cloud or freezing fog. Monday dry, sunny spells, still rather cold. Tuesday cloudier with milder temperatures.”
The change is expected come from the south west on Tuesday, with fronts from the Atlantic bringing milder air, along with moisture.
KCC gave guidance on how to cope with the cold weather such as eating nutritiously, staying physically active and looking out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
People should also regularly keep up with weather reports.
