Drivers are expected to face long delays in sweltering heat after a multi-vehicle smash on a motorway in rush hour traffic.

The M20 coastbound from junction 4 A228 (Leybourne/Snodland) to junction 5 for Aylesford is affected after reports of two cars and a lorry being involved in the accident.

It comes as Kent experiences one of the warmest days of the year, with temperatures reaching 27 degrees celsius.

Traffic monitoring specialist Inrix says one lane remains closed with one vehicle left facing the wrong way.

It comes after all traffic was being temporarily held.

Police have been contacted for comment.
