Man rescued from River Medway at St Peter’s Wharf retail park, Maidstone

A man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a river near a town centre shopping outlet.

Emergency services were sent to St Peter’s Wharf retail park, in Maidstone, after reports of a person in the River Medway.

Firefighters were called just after 5.40pm yesterday (January 7) and two fire engines and the water safety unit attended.

Crews assisted the police in rescuing the man using water safety equipment.

Paramedics assessed and treated the person before taking them to Maidstone Hospital for further medical treatment.
