A man was left with head injuries after being assaulted on a road on the outskirts of a town.

Officers were called to Square Hill Road, Maidstone, at 1.05pm following reports of the incident.

The road was closed for hours, but has since reopened, with bystanders describing the scene as “pure chaos”, with forensics vans reported on site.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not described as life-threatening.

A police spokesman added: “No arrests have yet been made and an investigation is ongoing.”
