Castledene Transport reveals plans for 78-home housing estate in Aylesford at Millhall Depot

Proposals for more than 75 new homes and the conversion of a Grade II listed site have been unveiled.

Castledene Transport wants to develop 1.19 hectares at its Millhall Depot in Aylesford.

The development, if approved, would include 78 homes between the village railway station and the River Medway.

Included in the scheme are a mix of terraced and semi-detached houses which are two storeys in height, as well as two three-storey apartment blocks and one four-storey block.

Currently, the depot hosts the developer's own offices and warehouse as well as the Grade II goods building, which will be converted into four deluxe flats.

The site will have a single access point by Mill Hall Road which can take drivers onto Station Road.

The transport company is now asking the public for feedback on their plans here.

The consultation will last until Friday, August 18, before the project is submitted to Tonbridge and Malling borough council, which the logistics company hope will have determined the proposals in 2024.

A Castledene Transport spokesman said: “As the business has continued to grow, we have outgrown our Millhall Depot and the site is no longer fit for purpose.

“We are actively searching for a new, modern site that will meet our current and future needs in the local area.

“Whilst a number of options are being explored there is a need to ensure the existing site is put to good use.”

A previous application for a similar redevelopment consisting of 79 homes was granted, subject to conditions, in May 2013.

The plans were not implemented which saw the permission lapse.
