Man dies after incident near Priestfield Stadium in Gillingham

A man has died after a police incident near a football stadium sparked concern.

Police were called to Toronto Road near Priestfield in Gillingham yesterday afternoon.

Other emergency services branches attended the scene close to the home of Gillingham FC, including one fire engine, the officers, and paramedics.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “SECAmb was called at approximately 3.50pm yesterday to reports a person had collapsed in Toronto Road, Gillingham.

“Ambulance crews attended but sadly despite the efforts of all those involved, the person died at the scene.”

The police confirmed they were called to “reports of a concern for the welfare of a man”.
