The date of a kebab chain opening in a shopping centre has been revealed.
German Doner Kebab (GDK) will be filling the vacant unit previously occupied by Santander in Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham.
The bank shut its branch in June 2021 after announcing the closure in March of the same year.
More than two years later, in November, plans for the kebab franchise were lodged.
GDK confirmed today it will open the store on Wednesday, April 10.
It comes just days after McDonald’s returned to the centre next to Frankie and Benny’s.
Also at the shopping centre is a Burger King drive-thru, Bella Italia, Nandos, Costa and Subway.
The new restaurant will have room for 20 customers to sit but will also offer a takeaway service via Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat.
The chief executive of GDK, Simon Wallis, said: “I am thrilled to officially announce plans to bring the unique taste sensation to Hempstead Valley.
“We are revolutionising kebabs across the UK and I am confident we will continue this trend in Kent.
“We offer a premium dining experience with game-changing kebabs that are made fresh daily by our hard-working team powered by our fantastic franchise partners.
“We pride ourselves in ensuring that kebabs are done right and served in a modern and relaxed environment, making it a unique restaurant experience for all new members of the ever-growing GDK community”.
