Speed cameras in Walderslade Road, Chatham, knocked down

A pair of speed cameras have been knocked down on a busy main road.
The damaged cameras on Walderslade Road, Chatham were spotted by Mike Williams last Wednesday, August 16.
Posted on Facebook the floored cameras were a controversial topic, attracting 205 comments and more than 400 reactions.
Some supported the camera attacks, with one saying “I 100 percent support this haha”.
While another added: “Should do it to all of the cameras.”
But other people were quick to point out that money will have to be spent to replace the cameras.
One said: “Great idea ... Not! It will only be replaced by a more advanced camera now.”
Medway Council say they have reported the incident to the police.
A council spokesman said: “The fixed speed cameras on Walderslade Road have been removed following suspected vandalism.
“We are committed to helping everyone travel safely throughout Medway through working with our partners in the Kent and Medway Safer Roads Partnership – which includes Kent Police who are responsible for speed enforcement.
“We will continue to work with our partners and will look into possible road safety options.”
