Dolphins caught on camera swimming in the River Medway near Hoo

Dolphins have been spotted in one of the county’s largest rivers.

The pod was seen this morning swimming in the River Medway near Hoo.

Jet Stream which runs tours in the river and has bases in Chatham and Rochester captured the animals on video around 11am.

In the footage, the dolphins can be seen gliding through the still water.

The firm estimates that there were around 20 to 30 of the animals in the pod.

It is not the first time dolphins have been spotted in the River Medway.

In February two of the creatures were seen near the Command House pub in Chatham, and earlier that month a trio had been spotted near Folkestone’s Harbour Arm.

Common dolphins can be found in waters all around the UK, but are more common to the southern and western coastal areas.
