Armed officers were dispatched to the scene on December 10 with around seven vehicles spotted in the parade by neighbouring traders at around 2.50pm.

It is alleged the man demanded the cashier hand over the money in his staff till.

But after the suspect was challenged by another member of staff he left the premises empty-handed before the arrival of the police.

Detectives investigating the incident say they arrested a suspect yesterday (December 16).

Liam Griffiths, of no fixed address, has since been charged on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (December 17).
