Six arrested after car crash in Purser Way near University of Kent campus, Gillingham

Police have arrested six men after a car reportedly crashed into a tree near a university.

The incident happened this morning near Purser Way, close to the entrance to the University of Kent’s Gillingham campus.

Officers were called to the scene just before 12pm but when they arrived the occupants had already left.

After a search of the area, the patrol took six men into custody.

An investigation is now underway into the incident.

Ariva’s 116 bus service was on put on diversion while the police cleared the road.

Just one officer remains on site helping cars divert around the closure.

UPDATE: The six men were later bailed to return to the police station on dates between November 4 and November 9, pending further investigation.
