A259 blocked in both directions on Romney Marsh between B2075 Romney Road and Spitalfield Lane

Two people have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash which has left a major A-road blocked in both directions.

Drivers are facing delays on A259 Lydd Road on Romney Marsh following the incident between B2075 Romney Road and Spitalfield Lane.

A diversion is in place via Lydd High Street.

Traffic monitoring expert Inrix says: “A259 in both directions blocked, delays due to multi-vehicle accident at B2075 Romney Road.”

Stagecoach is also warning of delays in the area, saying: “Due to a road traffic collision on Romney Road/Lydd Road in New Romney by Hammonds Corner, services 100 from Rye will terminate at Lydd Police station.

“Customers for New Romney should change onto the 102 service via Lydd Pilot and Greatstone.”

A spokeperson for the ambulance service said: “SECAmb were called shortly before 3pm this afternoon (23/10/24) to reports of a RTC on the B2075 in Romney Marsh.

“Crews assessed and treated two patients at the scene before taking them to William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment.”

Police have been contacted for comment.
