Charred remains were all that was left after a motorhome burst into flames.

Two fire engines attended the incident on the seafront at Minster on the Isle of Sheppey.

The fire erupted just after 9pm on Wednesday evening. It is not known how it started.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by paramedics.

At the height of the fire, captured by Kerry-Jane Crowley, flames lit up the sky and smoke drifted across the beach and the road as fire crews battled the blaze.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire engines were sent and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames with hose reel jets.

"One person was passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service as a precaution, due to slight smoke inhalation."

Debris, including a gas cylinder and a burned-out loudspeaker, was left on the shingle bank between Barton's Point Coastal Park and the White House restaurant.

Temporary barriers also fenced off some remains which had spilled over into Marine Parade, also known as the coast road, causing some traffic disruption on Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "We called at 9.40pm on Wednesday to a camper van that was alight in Marine Parade.

"Officers attended attended and the road was closed while Kent Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze. The road was reopened at around 10.30pm."

He said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
