A huge house fire has broken out this evening – and residents living nearby are being urged to close their windows and doors due to the smoke.
Firefighters are battling the blaze, which broke out in the roof of a property on the corner of Scrapsgate and The Broadway in Minster-on-Sea, on the Isle of Sheppey.
The Broadway has been temporarily closed this evening, with six fire engines on the scene.
One eyewitness told KentOnline the fire started just before 6pm.
The fire service has posted the advice on its website: “People living near to Scrapsgate Road in Minster-on-Sea are advised to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from a roof fire.
“Please be advised that The Broadway is also closed temporarily.
“Six fire engines are at the scene, where crews are working to extinguish the flames.
“Please share this advice with any loved ones in the affected area who might not have access to the internet or social media.”
