A former town centre Iceland store has been sold for half a million pounds.

The high street building, which was home to the supermarket chain until July last year, has been sold for £566,000.

Found in Sittingbourne town centre, it had gone up for sale with a guide price of £325,000 and was sold on Wednesday, March 20.

Listed by auctioneers Clive Emson, the building is described as being close to both local and nationwide retailers and the mainline railway station.

A spokesman for Clive Emson said the property may “be suitable for a variety of schemes”.

There is an office/training room to the front of the first floor of the building which has its own separate access from the High Street – this is described as being suitable for a self-contained flat if planning permission is obtained.

The spokesman added: “There are also large upper parts to the rear of the building which may offer potential for conversion, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”

The lot consists of a ground floor retail space, toilets, staffrooms, a kitchen, offices, and parking to the rear.
