A neighbour found Chit Chat ‘hobbling’ at around midday on June 10 and drove her to Newnham Court Veterinary Hospital, Maidstone.

Chit Chat’s owner, Joy Hodsdon, 52, has had to pay £5,000 for surgery and is expecting further vet costs in the coming weeks.

Joy, who is disabled and unable to work, said she does not have the money to pay for the surgery and believes her insurance will not cover the rising vet bills.

She said: “I wish people would just follow the speed limits which are there for a reason.

“The amount of people who bomb up and down the road in unreal.

“I am just angry and upset because the person who did this did not even stop and contact me.

“I can’t thank my neighbour and the driver who stopped to help Chit Chat as well as the vets who helped us, they were amazing.

“My cats mean so much to me and they have helped me through some really tough times. I would not be here without them.

“Chit Chat is more than just a pet.”

After two days spent in Maidstone, Chit Chat went for surgery on June 14 at Borden Lane Vets.
