Child on e-scooter in hospital after being hit by car in West Street near Pizza Hut in Sittingbourne

A child riding an electric scooter has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in a town centre this afternoon.

The collision took place in West Street near Pizza Hut on the junction with the St Michael's Road entrance to the one-way system in Sittingbourne.

Police were called to the scene just before 3.20pm.

Paramedics also attended and the child was treated for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening, a police spokesman said.

They were taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.
