A football club are appealing for help after their “shed end” was damaged beyond repair by Storm Ciaran.

Sittingbourne FC have launched a Gofundme campaign to raise funds to replace Blakey’s Shed at The Woodstock, Sittingbourne, which was destroyed in the storm.

The shed has been keeping the die-hard Brickies fans dry for the last 10 years but was knocked down by winds on Thursday, November 2.

Club spokesman Peter Pitts said: “It’s really sad that the shed has been knocked over as it’s been a home for our die-hard fans.

“We are trying our best to get a replacement as soon as possible and are exploring various options.”

A temporary solution has been offered by a scaffolding firm.

The club posted on social media: “Smithy's Scaffolding Services has come to our rescue and will supply us with a temporary stand in place ready for Saturday's game vs Ashford United.

“A huge thank you from all of us.”

The cost for a full replacement it is unknown but thought to be in the thousands.

This expense adds to the clubs woes who will have to pay for a boiler at The Woodstock, which Peter says will cost £6,000 if their FA grant is denied.

David Samworth regularly attends games at The Woodstock and stands in Blakey’s Shed.

The 66-year-old said the damage was a “real shame”.

He added: “I want to see it replaced if we can get the funds together but times are hard at the moment.”
