Road works have been causing long delays for commuters on a busy main road.
City Fibre works have begun on the A2 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, opposite Tesco Express.
Four temporary traffic lights were installed at 8am today (Tuesday, September 5) and the firm has permission to keep them in place until 11.59pm on Tuesday, September 12.
Traffic this morning was backed up from the bus stop at the Sittingbourne School in one direction and the fire station in the other.
CityFibre is upgrading broadband facilities in the town as part of a £9.5 million rollout.
It aims to bring fast and reliable full fibre-enabled internet services within reach of almost every home and business in Sittingbourne.
However, the firm came under fire in July after “pointless” traffic lights caused gridlock further down the A2 at Bapchild, even though work was taking place off a side road in School Lane.
Owner of the fruit and veg stall there, Alison Foreman, said the works were costing her £300 a day in lost trade.
A CityFibre spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and aims to minimise disruption wherever possible.”
