It is the latest problem in a long-running series of issues for Southern Water customers with some reporting it is the fourth time in a month.

The problem is believed to have started at around 10am today with Southern Water saying this is down to continuing maintenance.

Residents have taken to social media to vent their frustrations with one saying: "This is becoming almost a weekly occurrence. This is really not good enough."

Someone else remarked: "Every week we lose water and next month you want us to pay our bills. You are really not providing a service as contracted to your customers."

Another wrote: "Back to drinking the fish tank water again. This is getting outrageous I’m calling the water police."

Power issues have seen customers lose water or water pressure a further three times this month.

The last of these incidents took place just eight days ago, with up to 10,000 people being left without water.

Shortly before Christmas, streets were blocked as hundreds of residents queued up to get bottled water supplies.

A Southern Water spokesman said: "We’re sorry some customers in the Broadstairs and Ramsgate area may have suffered low pressure or loss of water.

"This was due to continuing maintenance in the area. All supplies should have returned within an hour of any outage."
