A social media sensation has raved about the food at a Kent restaurant after delighting fans with a visit.

John Fisher, who has amassed a cult following as Big John for his reviews of Chinese food and his catchphrase “bosh”, was spotted with his ‘Beano Bus’ group in Thanet across the weekend.

Visiting Smoke & Co in Ramsgate on Saturday afternoon, the clan gushed over the food as they tucked into ribs, pulled pork and chicken wings.

Speaking to his 517,000 followers on Instagram, he said: “We're at Smoke & Co in Ramsgate. I've been down here a few times. The food is unbelievable.

“The most important thing of all, Smoke & Co, they're good people, great people.

“Come down here, you have good food, that's what it's all about.”

It wasn’t just Big John who was impressed, with his group describing their meal as “banging, beautiful and fantastic”.

Smoke & Co bosses shared news of the visit on Facebook, saying it was a “pleasure to put on a spread for the lads to fuel up before heading to the seafront”.

Big John, better known on the social media platform as @itsbigjohn1, mostly documents his love of Chinese food, signing off his videos with his catchphrase "Bosh", to indicate his wisdom has now been imparted.

But, he has been known to venture into other matters, for instance, in one clip he refers to the Stop Oil protests which caused chaos on the M25 in November last year as protesters climbed the major road’s gantry.

The clip, which has millions of views, shows a 24-year-old woman outlining her reasons for protesting.

In response, Big John says: "My name's Big John. I'm 49, not stone. I have just been stuck on the M25 for three and a half hours along with thousands of others.

"Have a Chinese and chill the **** out. Bosh."

Aside from having a strong social media presence, Big John is also the father of professional boxer Johnny Fisher – known as the Romford Bull.

Smoke & Co is rapidly growing in stature since opening in 2023, with a KentOnline review previously labelling the business a “meat-lover’s paradise”.
