Video of man pooing in Bellevue Avenue in Ramsgate shared on Facebook

Grim footage shows the moment a council contractor defecated in the middle of the road while on the job.

The man, who was wearing a Waking Watch high-vis jacket, was caught on camera squatting next to a caravan in full view of flats at Kennedy House in Bellevue Avenue, Ramsgate.

Timestamped 5.30am on Thursday, the video shows the worker taking his trousers down before unceremoniously relieving himself.

He then wipes his bum with tissues before throwing them to the ground and leaving.

It is understood the man is a fire watcher, employed to monitor buildings such as Kennedy House in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

One resident said they were still waiting for Thanet District Council to come and remove the faeces more than 36 hours later.

The video prompted a barrage of responses, mostly expressing disgust.

One person wrote: “Gross .. makes me wonder if the dog poop all around Thanet is actually council workers poop.”

Another added: “More and more cases of people doing their business in public... almost like closing all the public loo's was a bad idea.”

A Thanet District Council spokesman said: “We have been made aware of the incident which has been identified as an officer contracted via a third party to carry out the duties of the waking watch at our tower blocks.

“The contractor has confirmed that appropriate action has been taken and that the area has been cleaned.

“We’re unable to comment further on HR matters on behalf of a third party.”
