Man dies after being taken unwell on Southeastern train between Westgate-On-Sea and Faversham

A man has died following a medical incident onboard a train yesterday.

Services from Westgate-On-Sea towards Faversham were disrupted after a passenger was taken unwell at the Thanet station shortly before 3.45pm on Thursday.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics and police officers, it was confirmed the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Westgate-on-Sea railway station at 3.19pm on December 19 following reports of a medical emergency.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
